PRESTIGE MEDLEY 2017/18 – March 10th & 11th 2018
The Prestige Medley has a proud tradition in our State and as the name suggests this prestigious event is one of the pathways for Bowlers to proceed to one of the pinnacles of our sport and represent our State.
Following a Clearance audit carried out by Bowls SA, Clubs are advised that some pennant ladders have been changed.
The following Sections are affected.
Saturday - Division 4 East
Wednesday – Division 2 North
Clubs that have Sides in these Sections are advised to check the online Competition Portal for the most up to date and correct ladders.
Match & Program Committee have issued an amendment to the Conditions of Play concerning player eligibility in Finals games.
The forecast temperature for Friday 9 January at 4:30 pm on Wednesday 7 February is 39 degrees Celsius.
It is possible that the temperature at the scheduled starting time (trial ends 6:00 pm) will still be 38 degrees or above. If the temperature is 38 or above at 6:00 pm games will not start until the temperature drops below 38.
If both Clubs agree, a later starting time such as 6:30 or 7:00 can be arranged, but the finishing time of 10:30 cannot be extended.
As per S 7.4 of Annexure A – Extreme Weather (Heat) Policy – Metropolitan Pennant Supplement of the Metropolitan Conditions of Play 2017 - 18 , all Round 15 Thursday Pennant matches will be played with practice ends commencing at 9.15am.
Match & Program has completed its investigation into the application of the Heat Policy by Clubs in Round 12 Pennant games played on Saturday 20th January.
A report was presented to the MBA Exec. Committee on Tuesday 30th January and the recommendations in that report have been accepted.
Certain Saturday Pennant games that were suspended on 20 January due to the heat will be resumed on Friday 9 February with trial ends commencing at 6:00 pm. Full details of Sides & substitution summary in the article. (Note: 2 pages)
The Executive Committee of the MBA has imposed a penalty on home Sides at venues that did not apply the Heat Policy rules correctly on 20 January.
The clubs concerned have been notified of the penalties imposed.

When matches are cancelled by Match & Program, no points will allocated to either side – they will be treated as Not Played (NP).
Results for Thursday pennants Rounds 11 and 12 have been changed to reflect this.
These games do not count for the purpose of Finals Eligibility under Rule 2.10.
If a round of Saturday Pennants are cancelled, all Premier League and Division 1 - 3 matches will be rescheduled to the following Friday night or a date to be determined by Match & Program. Matches for Divisions 4 – 7 will be treated as Not Played (NP) and no points will be allocated.
The forecast for Saturday 27 January at 4.30 pm on Wednesday 24 January 2018 on the BOM website is 42 degrees Celsius with a forecast overnight minimum of 24 degrees on Friday night and 27 on Saturday night.
Taking these forecasts into account Match & Program has, under Rule 7.1, declared this to be extreme weather. Therefore, all Round 13 Saturday Pennant matches have been cancelled/postponed.
This is just a memo confirming arrangements for Thursday Pennants tomorrow (Thursday 25 January).
Matches will be played at the normal starting time unless arrangements have been made to start earlier.
The forecast for Thursday 25 January at 4.30 pm on Tuesday 23 January 2018 on the BOM website is 35 degrees Celsius.
As this forecast is below 36 degrees, rule S7.4 of the Heat Policy does not apply, and matches will be played at their normal starting time

Version 2.34 of the Pennant Conditions of Play has amended the Rules regarding temperature monitoring on extremely hot days.
The application of the heat policy on Wednesday, for those venues using the Adelaide Airport or Noarlunga weather measurements, produced different outcomes with some matches abandoned and others completed.
WEDNESDAY PENNANT BOWLERS – Pennant bowls this Wednesday (13 December) will once again be played under the “early start” provisions of the Metro Pennant Conditions of Play. This means that Trial ends will begin by 9.15am and the usual mid-game break may be replaced by no break or by hydration breaks as determined by Side Managers.
